Pick my stupid face up, give my shit away
You’ll take it from me anyway even if I go away
I will never go away

About

Rap gets a lot of shit from people. It's either too vulgar for the pop kids to enjoy, or too formulaic for musical purist to truly get into... then there's the Metalheads who bitch that rap is not music, but "retards attempting poetry.." well, those, I can't even pretend to give a fuck about. if you feel that way, you're honestly, legitimately not intelligent enough to enjoy rap music, and probably have never attempted to. To my original point, though... Hip Hop gets shit on a lot, because the main stream has decided that Hip Hop is the easiest way to market to it's masses, because, let's face it, the average hip hop fan is a few chromosomes short of a functional member of society. There is, however, a completely under-exposed subculture within Hip Hop. It is to Hip Hop, what Nirvana was to Glam Metal; Where the focus on mainstream rap lies on it's visual value, and mainstream appeal, there is an underworld where making music that you love, because you love it, and challenging yourself to produce the absolute best product that you can is still rewarded. I believe that this is the underworld to which legends like Mos Def, Bonethugs and N.W.A handed their torch. I believe that this is the underworld that revolutionaries of the Genre such as KRS-ONE and the collective Run DMC sought to create...

And to that point, My blog. I refuse to believe that we live in a world where anyone truly believes that Nicki Minaj is a better, lick for lick, MC than Dessa Darling. I refuse to believe that people can listen to Kanye West masturbate his ego for two complete hours, and whole-heartedly believe that they're listening to the greatest album of all time, unless being told so by the masses. I refuse to believe that anyone can, again, objectively compare Eyedea to Eminem in his Current Stage, and not believe in their heart that Eyedea died the greatest rapper of our generation.

My goal, albeit ambitious as hell, is to expose people to this underworld. Because P.O.S said that there was a shift in consciousness slowly taking place within hip hop, and because, while I might have ragged on them just now, in and of themselves, Kanye West, and Nicki Minaj, and even New-Age Eminem, are a step in the right direction in that cosmic shift in hip hop, from the Soulja Boys, and the Fifty Cent's.... Because rap culture, if it is ever going to be taken seriously as a legitimate form of music, needs to embrace it's differences from most other genre's rather than hide them, and melt them into poppy-cookie cutter bullshit... and most importantly, because P.O.S's complete prophecy acknowledged that, if he was wrong, the people who believed in this genre as an artform rather than a cash cow.... we'd all be out of a job.

This is my tiny grain of salt. this is my two cents. Because... You know what? Finally! Fuck Yeah, Alternative Hip Hop.
